About my site

I was using the free homepage service "digi2" provided by XSERVER company, Japan.

However, the above company informed me that they will discontinue the service on January 6, 2016, and recommended to transfer my contents to their another service "Xdomain".
Therefore, I have transferred my site here on October 4, 2015, and I ask you to change
the bookmark of my site in your earliest convenience.

From November, 2015, I signed my own domain through XSERVER company. By this contract, maximum size of my homepage has been expanded to 10 GB, five times larger than the former site, and "PHP/MySQL" as well as "WordPress" sites can be established if I can manage, but I do not have the knowledge of these techniques. From 2017, it has become very hard to upload my photos and pdf files to my server. It took too much time to upload those files. The Coda software noticed me very often the message of “time out”. Therefore, I used another FTP software, “Yummy FTP Pro”, which tries to upload the files repeatedly, even if they were rejected from the server. Finally I received a warning from the server company that I am disturbing the server by my overburdening activity. They also advised me to use their pay server which can provide more excellent service.

I did not understand the reason why uploading my files has become so difficult. In 2017, my Mac and PC were both in trouble, so I doubted that it was due to the performance of computers. However, after renewing my Mac, the trouble in uploading still continued. Finally, I found out the reason. I have put too many files in the folders of photos and pdf files. Therefore, the server took too much time to receive the information on the contents of the folders in the server. I added new folders for photos and pdf in the server. Now uploading files can be done quickly by the Coda software.

By limiting the number of files in each folder, I could avoid the above trouble, and I continued to use the free server (Xdomain) for some more years.

Anyhow, I moved my site on a pay server of Xserver company from November, 2023. I am satisfied with my new site, because it is faster in uploading, is connected to the web through https, which is more reliable and safer. Total size limit of my site was also enlarged from 10 GB to 300 GB, which seems large enough. From April, 2024, I stopped updating my former site on Xdomain server.

To design my homepage, I am using the template from the "Web-design templates"
authored by Tomoko Sato and Sachiko Sato published by MdN corporation, Tokyo, Japan.

and I selected a recommended template for "Woodpecker".
It is very easy.

For editing my sites, I am using softwares for Mac OS, "Coda 2" available from Mac App Store. Present version is 2.5 now.

Presently, you need to purchase the software directly from the Panic Inc.

It is a very powerful software in which three functions of editor, viewer, and FTP are combined.
I am using "Diet Coda" on my iPad. It is a nice and useful combination with "Coda 2".
I am using "Diet Coda" for "Air View", and not for editing the remote file directly. It is too dangerous for me.
When you are editing your site using two or more computers, it is important to refresh the contents of the site every time you start.
I am also using "Yummy FTP" for FTP and "mi-editor" for HTML editor. The latter softwares are free(?) or very cheap, but faster in operation.
